LANSING, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Cass County man won a $1 million Powerball prize in the April 6 drawing and came within one number of winning almost a half billion dollars.
31-year-old Cain Bice of Union found out he won when he logged into his Michigan Lottery account the morning after the drawing and “saw a lot of zeros!”
Bice matched the five white balls which were 22-27-44-52-69. He missed the Powerball which was nine. That would have given him a share of a $1-point-3 billion Powerball jackpot.
One ticket holder in Oregon won the top prize.
Bice bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
Bice told the Michigan Lottery, “I bought a few more Powerball tickets than I usually do since the jackpot was over $1 billion. The morning after the drawing, I logged into my Michigan Lottery account and saw a lot of zeros in my account balance. I rubbed my eyes thinking I was still dreaming. Once I realized I had really won $1 million, I started shouting in excitement. My wife asked what was going on, so I showed her my phone with the winning amount on the screen. Once I was able to calm down and regain my composure, we called our family to tell them the good news!”
Bice visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a house, buy a car, and take a trip to Disney World.
